This is the Privacy Policy of Policy Works Inc. (“PWI”) for handling personal information. It explains how we collect and use personal information.
1.0 PRIVACY PLEDGE
1.1 Your trust is essential to the success of our business. PWI takes privacy and confidentiality very seriously and we safeguard the personal information of our customers in accordance with our strict internal privacy protocols and this Policy.
1.2 In this Policy, the term “personal information” means information about an identifiable individual, and excludes business contact information. The term “you” means any person who may use our services.
2.0 CONSENT
2.1 If you use PWI’s services and you supply personal information to us, you:
(a) consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information by PWI for the purpose of providing products and services to you;
(b) consent to receiving email and other commercial electronic messages from us for the purposes of providing products and services to you;
(c) consent to receiving marketing communications from us; and
(d) represent and warrant that you have obtained the necessary consents for the collection, use and disclosure of the personal information of your own customers by PWI strictly for the purpose of the use of our products and services;
in accordance with: (i) this Policy, (ii) any other agreement you may have entered into with us, and (iii) applicable laws and regulations.
2.2 It is your responsibility to ensure that we are kept informed of the correct and current personal information that you supply to us.
2.3 If you wish to withdraw your consent to receiving marketing communications from us, you can unsubscribe to have your name removed from our marketing list. Withdrawing your consent to the collection, use or disclosure of personal information in certain situations may mean that we are unable to provide you with services.
3.0 COLLECTION & USE
3.1 We sell services to brokers and insurers who collect personal information from insured individuals. We at PWI do not retain personal information of any insured individual. Any personal information that is collected, used or disclosed by PWI is used by us specifically to support our services and to better understand our customers’ needs, software usage, communications habits and preferences, and to enable our customers to provide service to insured individuals.
3.2 PWI does not sell or otherwise distribute personal information to external third parties.
3.3 PWI collects, uses and stores business contact information when you communicate with us (via email, phone, fax, website visits, etc.), and use our products and services. If you contact us in your capacity as an individual, we may collect, use and store your personal information for the purpose of communicating with you. Some information is also collected through the use of web browser ‘cookies’. Cookies cache user information, which may be accessed and stored by PWI.
3.4 PWI does provide some services through independent third-party service providers who are not owned or controlled by us (the “Service Providers”). Service Providers who collect personal information must agree to abide by this Privacy Policy. In no event shall either of PWI or our Service Providers be liable for the other's breach of this Privacy Policy. PWI and its Service Providers may share information with each other, as may be required strictly for the purpose of providing products and services to you.
4.0 INFORMATION HANDLING & SECURITY
4.1 PWI may transfer customer information to external entities in the event of a merger, acquisition, consolidation or strategic partnership in which PWI participates or to a purchaser of (substantially) all of PWI’s assets, but any such transfer will be subject to (i) this Policy, (ii) any other agreement you may have entered into with us, and (iii) applicable laws and regulations.
4.2 Policy Works employs technical and procedural safeguards to ensure the protection of your information. These measures are designed to protect information from loss, disclosure, and unauthorized access.
4.3 PWI uses service providers or servers located outside of Canada for the operation of its software and services including for data processing and storage. As a result, some personal information may be accessible to law enforcement, national security services or regulatory authorities in accordance with the law of these jurisdictions.
5.0 CHANGES
5.1 To stop receiving emails from PWI, simply email our privacy officer at privacy@policyworks.com and include "Remove from email list" in the subject line.
5.2 PWI reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at will and without notice to keep up with changes in the law and circumstance. Changes to the Privacy Policy will be posted on www.policyworks.com. PWI encourages you to periodically check its website for the most up-to-date Privacy Policy. By continuing to use our services after a change is posted, you consent to the modified terms of the Privacy Policy.
