Applied Net® 2024 was a memorable experience, featuring record-breaking attendance, hundreds of educational sessions, world-class speakers, and top-tier entertainment. With over 400 attendees from Canada, 144 relevant sessions, 14 sessions tailored explicitly for Canadians, and 5 sessions conducted in French, Team Canada's representation was bigger and better than ever.

Our Canadian product leader, William Ma and I had the opportunity to engage with Canadians about the insights we are gathering from the broker channel and the trends driving our industry into the next generation of insurance.

Here are some of the topics we discussed at the Canadian Marketplace Update:

Forces Pushing Our Industry into the Next Generation of Insurance

We greatly value our partnership with the Canadian broker channel and understand its unique challenges. We are dedicated to investing in innovative solutions and research to support brokers and our insurer partners. Our commitment to nurturing and developing new talent, connectivity, data-driven decision making and creating better experiences are some of the forces pushing our industry into the next generation of insurance.

Better Experiences

Transitioning from traditional desktop applications to browser-based solutions like Epic Browser is not just a technological upgrade — it’s a step toward enhancing efficiency, security, and accessibility.

Why Move to Browser?

Epic Browser provides on-the-go access to your broker management system so you can work from anywhere. Its modern design offers a more straightforward user experience, which means fewer clicks, fewer screens, and better experiences overall. With Epic Browser, you’ll receive smaller, more frequent releases for more consumable updates and quicker value realization. You’ll also get exclusive access to new features and enhancements only browser technology can support.

We can’t wait for you to join the thousands of users on Epic Browser in Canada. Watch this video to discover how Applied Epic® is transforming to simplify access to our solutions.

Commercial Lines Connectivity

Through collaboration with industry, insurer and broker partners, we set out on a mission to mend the broken commercial lines process and automate commercial lines connectivity in Canada.

Meet Epic Quotes Commercial Lines

Our new solution, Epic Quotes Commercial Lines, underscores our ongoing commitment to further connecting the end-to-end policy lifecycle so you can optimize business operations and deliver greater choice to customers faster. By integrating this process within Applied Epic, we aim to minimize any unnecessary duplication of work that can be frustrating.

This feature allows you to easily pre-fill customer and risk data, saving time by eliminating repetitive data entry. Now, you can quote multiple insurers across 240+ business categories, all from one place. With the integrated quoting workflow, you can skip the hassle of individual insurer portals, helping you work more efficiently and boost your premium growth.

Data Insights

The existing reporting capabilities in Applied Epic are robust, but the data is static, which slows down your ability to answer critical business questions quickly and accurately. Epic Dashboards is the foundation of our new data management strategy, significantly improving how you access and use information to make data-driven decisions across the brokerage.

Epic Dashboards is the next important milestone in unlocking data from the foundational broker management system to create simple, visual value. With it, you can make smarter decisions across the business that positively impact your sales pipeline, financial performance, and insurer relationships.

Talent

For me, our alliance with the Humber College Insurance Management Program is the heartbeat of empowering tomorrow's leaders and preparing the next generation of insurance professionals.

Our partnership goes far beyond introducing insurance technology into a curriculum; it's about crafting a vision where education meets real-world scenarios, providing students with a deep understanding of insurance fundamentals and digital tools used by brokers that allow them to join our industry quickly and effectively.

We understand that embarking on a new career path can be both exciting and challenging. We also partnered with Humber College to develop the Commercial Account Manager Certificate. This program is designed for people considering a career change, recent graduates, and newcomers to Canada.

See You Next Year in Sin City!

We're excited to return to Las Vegas for Applied Net ‘25. Your presence will make a huge difference, and we hope you can join us at the Canadian Marketplace Update at the Aria Resort from October 6-9, 2025. We are looking forward to connecting with you there!
