The Canadian broker channel is changing rapidly. Regulatory changes, shifting customer expectations, and improved insurance technology have created both challenges and opportunities for growth. As part of these changes, Applied Systems® has decided to sunset Applied TAM® in Canada. We recognize that change can be challenging, but it also opens doors to better tools, streamlined processes and increased profitability.

The transition from Applied TAM to Applied Epic® emphasizes our commitment to providing value, efficiency, and innovative solutions to the broker channel.

Why Canada?

The decision to sunset TAM® comes as a response to changing provincial regulations and advancements in security practices. Provinces like Ontario are implementing stricter underwriting and data privacy laws, including the Ontario Auto Reform Act, which will take effect on July 1, 2026. Similarly, the Alberta Auto Reform legislation will become effective on January 1, 2027, reshaping how policies are issued and managed.

While Applied TAM has served Canadian brokers well for decades, it's become evident that it can’t keep pace with the demands of an evolving marketplace. Key elements of TAM'sarchitecture, which rely on Microsoft® technologies, will no longer receive automatic updates, putting brokers at risk of slower performance and potential security risks.

Why Applied Epic?

Applied Epic is the most widely used agency management system in the world. Canadian brokers increasingly turn to Applied Epic to modernize and enhance their businesses. As an all-in-one solution, Applied Epic empowers brokers to seamlessly manage P&C and Benefits lines of business, while leveraging advanced capabilities like sales automation, insurer connectivity, data analytics, customer service technology, and marketing automation.

A Strategic Vision for the Broker Channel

Applied Systems has a vision beyond developing software solutions, and we are playing the long game. We are dedicated to enhancing every phase of the insurance life cycle through automation, data-driven decision-making, and connectivity. This commitment pushes us to invest in solutions that empower the broker channel to work efficiently, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and simplify complex tasks.

“Our business has become more and more complex. We’re fortunate to have a great ownership group that realizes that for Applied to properly serve its market, we must continually invest in our products.”

Applied Systems Canada

Applied Epic embodies this vision. Unlike TAM®, Applied Epic improves performance and scalability while removing the hardware and infrastructure burden. It can integrate with other technologies as needs and trends evolve. More importantly, brokers can continue to serve their clients effectively while staying competitive in an industry increasingly influenced by regulatory and digital demands.

What This Means for the Broker Channel

This transition is about more than just upgrading software. It’s a chance for brokers to rethink how they connect with customers, set themselves up for future success, and find new efficiencies. We’re committed to making this change as smooth as possible and equipping brokers with everything needed to succeed.
