History-Making U.S. Astronaut, Captain Scott Kelly, to Keynote Applied Net 2018

July 10, 2018

Captain Scott Kelly to share captivating insights at the world’s largest gathering of insurance agents, brokers and insurers

University Park, Ill. – July 10, 2018 – Applied Systems® and the Applied Client Network today announced that Captain Scott Kelly will be the featured keynote speaker at Applied Net® 2018. Kelly’s keynote will draw from experiences that shuttled him into history books and paved the way for future space travel and exploration, inspiring others to believe that they can reach any goal, no matter how ambitious or audacious.

“Every year, Applied Net provides insurance professionals the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the latest technologies and business strategies that are transforming the industry so they can bring them back to their own businesses,” said Brian Langerman, chief executive officer, Applied Client Network. “This year’s featured keynote by Captain Scott Kelly will deliver insights into persistence and resilience that agents, brokers and insurers will be able to apply to strengthen their businesses when navigating their transformations in this digital age.”

Kelly’s keynote will draw from his extraordinary experiences as U.S. Navy Captain and U.S. Astronaut whose record-breaking year in space captivated the world while paving the way for the future of space travel and exploration. With awe-inspiring stories from his groundbreaking expedition and the path that led him there, Kelly inspires and challenges others to dream big, test the status quo, and “choose to do the hard things.” From the leadership and teamwork required in such demanding conditions, to the long-term deprivation from loved ones and Planet Earth itself, Kelly delivers a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

“This year’s Applied Net conference will focus on how combining digital technology and traditional insurance practices has revolutionized the insurance industry,” said Reid French, chief executive officer, Applied Systems. “We are pleased to have a recognized hero and pioneer join us as our featured keynote as he shares his stories of leadership, teamwork and self-determination.”

Applied Net 2018 will focus on how consumer reliance on digital innovations has created new expectations for instant consumption of products and services. Combined with the speed of change and new market entrants, the industry has entered into its next chapter, The Digital Age of Insurance. As the leading forum for education and innovation, Applied Net 2018 will offer more than 200 educational sessions, inspiring keynotes and networking opportunities to explore how to transform business and customer service models to remain competitive in this new age.
