Average premium renewal rates experience variable change month to month across most major commercial lines
Milwaukee, WI. – August 8, 2023 - Ivans® today announced the July 2023 results of the Ivans Index™, the insurance industry’s premium renewal rate index. Year over year, Commercial Auto, BOP, General Liability, Commercial Property and Umbrella experienced increasing average premium renewal rates, while premium renewal rates decreased for Workers’ Compensation. Month over month, Commercial Auto, BOP, Commercial Property and Workers’ Compensation experienced increases in premium renewal rate change, while General Liability and Umbrella saw decreases.
Premium renewal rate change by line of business for July 2023 highlights includes:
- Commercial Auto: 6.62%, up from 6.53% last month.
- BOP: 7.82%, up from 7.64%, at the end of June.
- General Liability: 5.37%, down from 5.58% the month prior.
- Commercial Property: 9.74%, up from 9.34% in June.
- Umbrella: 4.9%, down from 5.92% the month prior.
- Workers’ Compensation: -0.52%, up from -0.71% last month.
Released monthly, Ivans Index is a data-driven report of current conditions and trends for premium rate renewal change of the most placed commercial lines of business in the insurance industry.
