Why Applied

Insurance runs on connections. Applied makes yours compound.

Applied builds for brokerages, insurers, and MGAs, and for the work that moves between them. That has been the company’s whole job since 1983.

The largest brokerages, the independents growing beside them, and the insurers they place with

Applied serves the largest brokerages in the country, the independents growing beside them, and the insurers and MGAs they all place business with. Insurance work stalls between companies, not inside them. Applied conducts the insurance distribution and connected ecosystem that is transforming how risk flows between them.

Your AI partner should already know how your business runs

A new AI tool can look impressive in a demo. Running AI on a live book of business is harder. It has to work with your real client and policy data, inside the systems your team uses all day, and hold up with insurers and auditors watching.

Applied already runs those systems on both sides of the work. Applied Epic holds your clients, policies, and accounting, and Applied Rating Services quotes personal lines across your markets. Applied for insurers, with its CSIO-standard connectivity, links you to the insurers you place with. Applied builds its AI into Applied Epic and into the tools insurers use to receive your business, so it works from your own records and reaches the insurer without another vendor in between.

That AI is already in daily use. Inside Applied Epic, it finds anything in a client file down to the text inside attachments, researches commercial prospects from public business data, and reconciles direct bill and broker bill statements. On the insurer side, it sorts every request that lands in a shared inbox, pulls the risk details out of each submission, catches duplicates and links new submissions to existing customers, and moves out-of-appetite risks to a decline queue so underwriters spend their time on the ones worth quoting.

Applied has built for this industry since 1983, and a licensed person still approves anything that touches a policy, a client, or an insurer.

We have always shown up in person

The company started with a bet. Bob Eustace and a few friends put everything on a machine most of the industry had never seen, built the first PC-based agency management system, drove it out to brokers, set it up on the desk, and stayed until it worked. Forty-three years later that is still the job.

Applied specialists help your team adopt Applied Epic by role, at go-live and as new functionality ships, the independent user community we work alongside, connects you with peers who run Applied Epic and brings their experience into product conversations with us. Applied Net brings the industry together once a year. Support stays on a problem until it closes.

Proof from both sides

Your management system is the platform critical to any success. Applied Epic is where we want to be because it is scalable. The analytic capabilities [were] critical in our decision to upgrade.

Connectivity is meeting our agents where they live. It is reducing friction and placing business with Cincinnati Insurance. It allows the agent to place business with us without ever leaving their agency management system.

Questions buyers ask us

Applied Systems is an insurance software company. Brokerages run their operation on our management and rating platforms. Insurers and MGAs use our connectivity and underwriting products to reach that distribution. We have been doing it since 1983, in seven countries.

Applied serves all three sides of the independent channel: the largest brokerages, the independents growing beside them, and the insurers and MGAs they place with. That is why Applied can work on the parts of insurance that sit between companies, where most of the delay lives.

Applied connects to Canada’s insurers and MGAs through CSIO-standard download, eDocs, and real-time quoting, and publishes APIs and certified integrations for the rest of your stack. If a vendor you use is not already certified, the integrations directory is the place to check.

Applied builds for both ends of the market. Applied Epic runs Canadian brokerages from a few dozen people to more than a thousand, and every package tier includes Applied Rating Services for personal lines quoting. Which setup fits depends on the lines you write and the insurers you place with, not on your headcount.

Every customer gets Applied University for role-based training and the Applied Community for peer answers, plus a support team that stays on a problem until it closes. Applied Net brings customers together once a year, and plenty of them have been coming for a decade or more.

Your data stays yours. Applied runs on audited cloud infrastructure with ISO/IEC 27001 certification and SOC 1, SOC 2, and SOC 3 reporting. Full documentation sits on the trust and security page.
